Dr. Aminah Knight: Meet the owner
A Bit about me...
Thank you for your interest in Excellence Early Learning Center!
My name is Dr. Aminah Knight, and I am the owner, Director, and curriculum designer of Excellence ELC. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Childhood Education and Special Education from New York University in 2009, my Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Southern California in 2015, and my Doctorate in Leadership and Learning in Organizations from Vanderbilt University in 2022. I am also a published author, wife, and mother of six.
As you may have noticed from my academic background, education is very important to me. I am a lifelong learner who loves to challenge myself and pursue my biggest dreams. When my husband and I first met, he asked me about my professional goal, and I said, “I want to be the Secretary of Education!” I am confident that, with dedication, hard work, and the blessings of God, my dream will come true.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in 2009 with my two children by my side. Without the support of my family, access to excellent childcare, and my own discipline and determination, I don’t believe I would have reached the academic and professional milestones I once dreamed of.
Excellence Early Learning Center is committed to providing exceptional care to all children. I understand that it is every parent’s or caregiver’s top priority to ensure their child is in a safe, loving, and academically stimulating environment while they are away. I remember the peace of mind I felt knowing that my children were happy, loved, learning, and thriving while I was studying and working to provide a wonderful life for them. My team and I are here to provide you with that same peace of mind.
Welcome to Excellence!
With love,
Dr. Aminah Knight
About Us
At Excellence Early Learning Center, we value multiculturalism, small class sizes, healthy eating, and a warm, loving environment that feels like home. Our staff reflects the beautiful diversity of the HEB community and holds degrees in fields ranging from education, accounting, biology, pharmacology, science, nursing, and mathematics from their home countries.
At Excellence, we understand that more staff means more love, attention, and supervision. That is why we maintain a low staff-to-child ratio of 1:5 in all classrooms. This allows us to give children plenty of hugs, guide them through engaging learning activities, ensure they are grasping key concepts, and keep them safe.
We believe that a healthy diet is crucial in supporting children’s physical and emotional development. For this reason, we serve well-balanced, healthy, and organic meals, offer water throughout the day, and provide fresh fruits and vegetables with every meal.
Children feel at home when they come to Excellence. They are greeted by their teachers with a warm hug each morning and are gently eased into their classroom routine. In no time, children develop a sense of ownership of their school environment and transition smoothly from one activity to the next throughout the day.
We are excited for your family to become a meaningful part of the Excellence Early Learning Center community and to be part of your child’s learning journey.
