Hurst Fire Department
Our trip to the Hurst Fire Department was a wonderful opportunity to bring classroom learning to life! Our children got to see firsthand how firefighters help keep our community safe, ask questions, and make real-world connections to the concepts we’ve been exploring at school. Experiences like this also help our children build meaningful connections within their community while learning the importance of showing gratitude and appreciation for the community helpers who serve us every day.
Bedford YMCA
Throughout June and July, our children visited the Bedford YMCA each week through a special community partnership that gave them regular opportunities to build confidence in the water.
One of the most rewarding parts of these visits was watching each child grow at their own pace. Some children took to the water immediately, while others began the summer feeling much more hesitant. Week by week, we watched nervousness turn into confidence—from becoming comfortable with water splashing on their faces, to eagerly jumping in, practicing new skills, and even learning to float on their backs.
It was beautiful to witness this kind of growth outside of the classroom. These weekly experiences gave our children the chance to build courage, perseverance, independence, and trust in themselves while making wonderful summer memories in our community.
Pizza Making Class at D'Nonna Resturaunt
During our pizza restaurant field trip, children explored their community while learning how one of their favorite foods is prepared from start to finish. As they created their own pizzas, they practiced following directions, sequencing, making choices, and fine-motor skills. Children also practiced good manners and appropriate behavior while dining in a restaurant, making the trip a fun opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-world experiences.
Arlington Discovery Center
Our trip to the Arlington Discovery Center gave our children an exciting opportunity to learn through hands-on exploration. As they investigated, experimented, and interacted with engaging exhibits, they strengthened curiosity, problem-solving, creativity, and observation skills. Experiences like these help us bring classroom learning to life while encouraging children to discover more about the world around them.
Trinity Rivers Farm
Our visit to Trinity Rivers was a wonderful hands-on learning experience! The children learned how to prepare food for the horses, help groom them, practice gentle and respectful touch, and even work through some of their hesitations about feeding such large animals. They also enjoyed petting goats and other animals and participating in fun craft activities. Experiences like this bring classroom concepts to life while building confidence, compassion, curiosity, and a deeper connection to the world around them.
